This is Mei Liang, and she is mentally-challenged.

Mei Liang @ Eden

Mei Liang is 14 years old, and she goes to a school for special children where she learns mostly basic living skills such as cooking omelets, fried rice, and fried noodles. And she learns some sewing in school too.

At the Children’s Hostel, Mei Liang is sometimes in charged of taking care of Yoshini whenever Aunty Looi is busy. Mei Ling has been taught and trained to handle, take care of and “relieves” Yoshini.

Mei Liang likes to take pictures and have asked me to take pictures of her using my mobile phone, which I did:

Mei Liang and Yoshini

Before Mei Liang was sent to Eden Handicap, she roamed the streets at nights and her village head used to fetch her back to her house at nights. The village head had also informed Mei Liang’s parents that he had seen her being taken away on a motorbike by an Indian man. And there were times when her parents arrived at a specific spot where she was reported to have been seen, and she would have wandered elsewhere. And whenever she was locked at home, she would find every opportunity to run away.

Mei Liang’s parents requested that Eden Handicap takes her in because they couldn’t take care of her anymore. So Bertie and Madelene agreed.

If you’d like to help Mei Liang, send your donations to Eden Handicap. Detailed instructions on how to sponsor me can be found here — How to sponsor Eden Handicap Service Centre? Check out Eden Handicap’s Donation Page on how to send your contributions.
