I’m sorry, peeps!

Posted by pelf on July 8, 2008

I know, I know I haven’t been updating Giving Hands for a while, and I am extremely frustrated about it. I own the blog, and I am entirely responsible for writing, (or at least) for looking for materials for the blog. But I haven’t been able to do it due to my other commitments and the fact that I am also trying very hard to keep my other blog updated :D

Anyway, if you would like to contribute a piece or two to Giving Hands, please send me script (and pictures, if any) and a few lines to introduce yourself, and if it falls into any of my existing categories, I would be extremely grateful to you :D

Meanwhile, I promise to sleep less so that I can keep this blog alive! :D

Thank you, everybody!

The “Save the Ocean” campaign has come and gone, and I am glad I survived this group-writing project! Truth be told, only a little more than half of the proposed topics were taken up and written by fellow guest bloggers, and yeah, I had to write the remaining ones. But I’m glad I did, because it has given me a chance to learn more about saving our oceans! :D

Thank You

I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to everybody who has participated in the campaign, directly or indirectly. Your involvement in the campaign means a lot to me, and I truly appreciate your support. To my dear guest-bloggers, thank you for making the campaign so successful, and I do look forward to working with you again :D

Now, on to the poll that was conducted throughout the campaign.

Results of the Save the Ocean poll

I am glad that 60% of my readers felt that they had somehow or the other benefited from the campaign. My guest-bloggers and I have put in a lot of care to ensure that the articles published were easily understood. And though some of the articles were a tad too lengthy, they do contain a part of the writer what we could not otherwise learn about :D

The other 40% of my respondents said that the campaign could be better, and of course, I thought so too. We all learn from our mistakes and strive to do better in whatever we choose to do.

One more thing, if you would like to learn more about saving our oceans, I would definitely recommend David Helvarg’s 50 Ways To Save The Ocean. In fact, this campaign was inspired by David’s book, and all the proposed tips were taken from his book, which was written in a very simple-to-understand way.

Once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Bloggers Unite - Acts of Kindness

Posted by pelf on December 8, 2007

This guest-post is brought to you by Diana.

Acts of KindnessWhat I appreciate most about people is kindness. I really don’t care if anybody is rich, or is beautiful, or is very smart (well, maybe a little :D ), but I do care if someone is kind. People can show their kindness in many ways — by carrying other people, by carrying some animals, by trying to save the environment, by donating to a children’s home, etc.

On December 17th, Bloggers Unite challenges bloggers everywhere to do an act of kindness, something good offline and then write about it on their blogs, using words, pictures, and/or videos to tell the story. The goal is to expose their kindness and generosity as well as to serve as an example to non-bloggers that volunteering for a charity, donating to a cause, or simply doing something kind for another person has a ripple effect around the world.

Let’s do something for this world, let’s do something for those who aren’t as lucky as we are, let’s show everybody that we do care.

First of all, we can make someone happy on December 17 and second, maybe our acts of kindness will influence other people to do the same.

Over the years, my husband and I make some acts of kindness, like feeding some poor families, giving money to poor people, feeding and carrying some abandoned dogs, but I never write or talk about this, because it sounds pretty weird to me to talk about my own acts of kindness. Anyhow, if I think deeper, I’m convinced that a large number of bloggers talking about their acts of kindness can make a difference.

I know that all of you who read this blog are kind people. So why don’t you join the movement and do something good and blog about it? Please leave a comment and say what act of kindness you intend to do on December 17th :D

Let’s unite in acts of kindness!
