Like I’ve mentioned several times already, Eden Handicap Service Centre is a Malaysian non-profit, independent organization which was started in 1991 with a simple concept: to help the disabled come to terms with their disabilities, to engage them in fellowship with other disabled and able-bodied friends, and to provide adequate training to place them in suitable jobs in the society. And because Eden Handicap is providing FREE services to the needy, their monthly expenses touch a whooping MYR 50K per month!
So what does Eden Handicap do?
Eden Handicap provides a list of services to people living with disabilities (adults and children alike), e.g.:
- social welfare — home visits, job placements, social activities
- children’s hostel — living skills, physiotheraphy
- training — basic living, social and work-related skills
- art and craft — handicraft classes for the physically-impaired
- recycling — sorting of recycleable and non-recycleable materials
- information technology — Microsoft Word and Excel, internet
In the next few posts, we will go into more detail each of the services provided by Eden Handicap for people living with disabilities. If you’re feeling generous, please SPONSOR ME in my quest to raise funds for the Eden Handicap.
