I’m pretty sure this topic has been debated for ages by now, but air pollution remains an issue in most countries. Now, try to think about what we, as the inhabitants of Earth, have done to reduce air pollution to a minimal level? Why is our air pollution level still in a high and critical level, even after the issue has been around for such a long time? The main reason of this occurrence is: Lack of participation.
Yes, the key word here is “participation”. What we simply need is participation from every-single-person on the planet, from all walks of life. In fact, everybody plays a very important part to help reduce air pollution to a minimal and safe level. But another question arises — how do we reduce air pollution? Good question.
Let me share with you 5 simple ways to reduce air pollution from my point of view, and don’t worry, none of the ways I suggest costs a fortune to implement:
Car-pool
By car-pooling, you can reduce the amount of petrol/diesel needed to run a vehicle. I notice, most of us Malaysians tend to hold the “one person, one car” concept. This is a very bad concept to follow, not to mean that if you can afford a car, you can buy a few to show off your wealth. Just lay low, start thinking about the amount of carbon dioxide your cars produce, and car-pool with some of your colleagues!
Public transport
I have to admit that public transport in Malaysia is bad, but that doesn’t give you the reason to skip this option and hop onto your own car. In fact, public transport is the best alternative to reduce traffic jam and it saves you lots of money on petrol too.

Plants
Yes, you read that right. Plants. Buy a plant (you don’t need to buy an expensive bonsai), put it outside your house/balcony, and you’ll soon notice that the world is a better place to live in. ‘Nuff said.

Stop smoking
Cigarettes is the cause of lung cancer, but yet, there’s still millions & millions of people in the world who is living on this. Leave the world with more fresh air and stop smoking. It will definitely benefit both your health and the planet.
Stop burning
Open burning is one of the causes that leads to excessive amount of gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen to be release to the open air. As we humans breath in oxygen and nothing as fancy as the previous other two gases, please stop burning your rubbish and your excessive credit card bills openly. Instead, there’s our nice garbage collector who can help to collect our rubbish and handle it in a more appropriate way.

Hopefully more people will realize the importance to reduce air pollution. Let’s make the world a better place to live in, OK?
